Tog på slingrekurs

Togmetaforen fortsætter – også i RetorikMagasinets anmeldelse. I en interviewbog med ti europæiske tænkere tager Adam Holm pulsen på det europæiske projekt. Bogen leverer interessante – om end ikke overraskende eller banebrydende – perspektiver på et skrantende Europa. Fronterne trækkes op mellem Putin og populismen på den ene side og et stærkt EU på den anden. Bogen bliver interessant når den giver taletid til østeuropæiske stemmer der, fanget i krydsilden mellem Rusland og resten af verden, fremhæver det europæiske demokrati og retsstatstanken. Især Sofi Oksanen og Svetlana Aleksijevitj, der i øvrigt er de to eneste kvindelige interviewpersoner, bringer nuancer og nærvær ind i debatten. Bogen er et udmærket billede på sin samtid, men søger man konkrete løsninger, går man forgæves i Endestation Europa.
